To Our Community...

As we reflect on the past year and our 90-year history, I am grateful for the incredible work being done in our community. At CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System, our commitment to improving health outcomes, providing compassionate care and meeting the unique needs of our neighbors has never been stronger.
Our mission — to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ — guides everything we do, and it’s an honor to share the positive impact made with your partnership. From providing charity care for those who cannot afford treatment to offering health education and preventive services to the underserved, we strive to make health care accessible, equitable and effective for all.
In fiscal year 2024, CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System provided over $35.5 million in charity care, covering the full costs for individuals without insurance up to 300% of the poverty level and offering prorated assistance for those up to 400%. We also invested over $3.8 million in community benefits addressing priorities like heart disease, diabetes, obesity, primary care access, behavioral health and food insecurity. Our providers offer health education in Longview, Marshall and surrounding counties. In FY24, we utilized more than $300,000 in CHRISTUS Health system grants to support local partners working on food insecurity, addiction recovery, single-parent family stability and bilingual preschool programs. Additionally, our athletic trainers provide free services to 28 schools, and a Community Health Worker helps discharged patients facing food insecurity find local resources.
As we continue to grow, we are excited to announce the expanded service lines to include a comprehensive cardiovascular program and a new cancer center. This will allow us to provide specialized care for those in our community facing these critical health challenges. Our state-of-the-art cancer center will address the region’s growing need for full-service care, enhancing patient experiences and strengthening community health. This growth will also help attract new physicians to the area, expanding the range and availability of expertise available to our neighbors.
This year, we’ve seen firsthand the power of community collaboration. Whether it’s our health outreach programs, partnerships with local organizations or generous support from volunteers and donors, together we’ve created a healthier, more resilient community. Every step is inspired by our shared values of compassion, respect and stewardship, and it’s because of your support that we can continue our mission.
I am excited about the future and how we’ll continue to address the evolving needs of our community. We remain dedicated to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or financial circumstances, has access to the care and resources they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
Thank you for your partnership, trust and belief in our shared vision. Together, we will continue to build a healthier future for all.
Blessings,
Todd Hancock, Chief Executive Officer
