Know Where to Go for Care During the Holidays

Patients getting care during the holiday.

When coughs, fevers, or sprains appear during the holidays, it can be challenging to know where to turn for help. CHRISTUS Health makes it easy to get the right care — right when you need it — even if your regular doctor’s office is closed.

Start with Primary Care

Your first stop for most health concerns

Your primary care provider knows your health history best. They can treat most illnesses and minor injuries, and help you manage ongoing conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and asthma.

Go to Primary Care for:

  • Cough, cold, sore throat, or mild flu
  • Ear, nose, or throat infections
  • Immunizations and physicals
  • Ongoing care for chronic conditions

Tip: Schedule routine checkups before the holidays to stay ahead of seasonal illness.

When Your Doctor’s Office Is Closed: Choose Urgent Care

Evenings, weekends, and holidays

If your condition isn’t life-threatening but you can’t wait until your doctor’s office reopens, CHRISTUS Urgent Care offers extended hours and same-day treatment, no appointment needed.

Go to Urgent Care when labs are needed, or a physical assessment is needed:

  • Flu, fever, or persistent cough
  • Sprains, strains, or possible minor fractures
  • Minor burns, cuts, or lacerations
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

Tip: Visiting urgent care costs less and is faster than a trip to the ER for non-emergencies.
